TikTok user @euphoriafaith says an unexpected dispute over her nails left her questioning a new job at her daughter’s school. At the time of publication, her video had received 889,300 views and 2,516 comments.
Euphoria says she accepted a position as a cook because the schedule allowed her to remain close to her daughter, who attends the same school and is dealing with personal challenges. She says she had been offered the choice of working as a cook or taking a management position, but the school did not have an available management role.
According to her account, fake nails were discussed during orientation. She says she understood that French-tip nails were permitted, so she had them done several weeks ago. When she arrived at work, however, a supervisor told her the nails were not approved and said that the policy applied differently to other employees.
Euphoria says she removed the tips but kept her natural nails manicured with powder. She had originally made the change for an upcoming wedding. Despite removing the French tips, she says she was told to leave before clocking in. She questioned the decision because employees were not required to wear gloves and argued that the remaining manicure could not come off in the same way as a nail tip.
She also says she had never received a clear explanation of the policy. Euphoria describes a separate conflict involving a whiteboard where she had written daily quotes for coworkers. She says a supervisor later erased one of her messages and replaced it with a note about inventory. Euphoria claims that she had also seen the supervisor bully other employees and that her decision to push back worsened their relationship.
After the dispute over her nails, Euphoria says she was given paperwork containing a conversation between management and HR about the employee who had allegedly approved the French tips. She says the document suggested that management believed she may have forgotten the policy, while she maintained that she had been given conflicting information.
Euphoria says she emailed HR to explain that she would not return the following day because she could not afford to have her nails changed again. She estimated that she was out $140 after altering the manicure from the French-tip style.
TikTok users responded with advice, including asking for the rule in official written form, such as an employee handbook. Some commenters who identified themselves as school cafeteria workers suggested checking local health department regulations. Others warned her that HR typically protects the company rather than individual employees.
The Daily Dot said it contacted Euphoria for additional comment. The claims in this story are based on her TikTok video.
