TikTok creator Liam Haskett says corporate leaders should expect Gen Z employees to approach work differently from previous generations. In a video, he describes younger workers as “individualistic,” linking that outlook to a lack of confidence that staying with one company will provide long-term security.

Haskett contrasts Gen Z’s experience with that of today’s corporate leaders, who, he says, grew up believing employees could remain at one company for decades and expect to be financially secure. Younger adults, he argues, have instead watched costs rise and their standard of living come under pressure.

That outlook can shape how workers view employers, Haskett says: rather than assuming they should be loyal to a company, they may ask how a job can improve their own lives. He suggests this could make it harder for businesses to build trust and retain staff, while also arguing that Gen Z could become effective leaders over time.

Haskett says some younger workers may be reluctant to invest heavily in workplace systems they do not believe will reward them. The video’s commenters echoed frustration with expectations around loyalty, promotion and putting work above other parts of life. One commenter questioned why workers should be loyal to a job paying $12 an hour, while another said promotions now require employees to overcome significant hurdles.

At the time of publication, the video had received 1.3 million views and 1,451 comments. The Daily Dot said it could not independently verify Haskett’s claims, which reflect his opinions in the video.
