Buffer is retiring Start Page, its tool for creating a simple page of links and content to share on social profiles. New pages can no longer be created as of November 4, 2026, while existing pages will remain online until February 2, 2027. Users can continue editing their pages until November 30, when Buffer plans to make migration tools available.

The company said the decision reflects its focus on Buffer’s main social media tools for planning, publishing, analyzing content, and engaging with communities. It also cited the work required to bring Start Page’s features up to date, as well as the infrastructure and moderation costs of hosting public pages.

Buffer will offer three ways to move a page: users can download its files and images to host elsewhere, transfer it to the independent service Lnk.bio, or set up a redirect from their existing start.page address to a new page. Buffer says it will provide instructions and show users which parts of their pages will carry over. Some features, including the updates feed, are specific to Buffer and may not transfer.

Pages that have not been migrated will begin to be taken down on February 2, 2027. Users who set up a redirect can continue using their start.page link to send visitors to their new page; without one, the link will stop working when the page is removed. Buffer says redirects will remain active after the shutdown and that it will give users notice if this changes.

For customers who pay for Start Page as a channel, it will stop counting toward their channel slots on November 30, 2026. That slot can be used for another channel, or customers can reduce their channel count through billing settings, with the change reflected on their next bill. Buffer says its Advocacy team can also help with the transition.
