VisionQuest’s penultimate episode has finally brought the Client out of the shadows, revealing a character played by James Spader. The reveal raises new questions about his connection to Ultron rather than explaining who he is or what he wants.

At the end of episode 7, the Client captures Vision and Jocasta. When Vision surrenders outside Horton Manor, the Client emerges from the house. His appearance suggests he may be the person whose likeness Ultron used for his human avatar, although the episode does not confirm the details of their relationship.

The Client also appears in Jocasta’s memories of Jo, where he is presented as her business and romantic partner. The two discuss using their nanotechnology to become “godlike.” His appearance and his use of the phrase “peace in our time” further hint at a link to Ultron, but the show keeps that connection unclear ahead of its finale.

One theory raised by the episode is that the Client could be a grandson of scientist Phineas Horton. He appears to live in Horton Manor, and episode 7 shows Horton’s young daughter, Victoria, taking her father’s notebook in 1939. The notebook later appears among Jo’s collaborators, prompting speculation that the Client could be connected to Victoria’s family. His identity and motivations remain unconfirmed.

VisionQuest is streaming on Disney+. The Season 1 finale is scheduled to premiere on November 10 at 9 p.m. ET on the service.
