TikTok creator Eileena Marie says she felt relieved after ending her son’s sessions with a speech therapist, describing weeks of tension and anxiety around the therapist’s visits. In a video that drew more than 27,000 views and 110 comments, she said her son seemed uncomfortable and spoke less than usual during appointments.
Marie said she was teaching her toddler everyday expressions such as “please” and “thank you” when the therapist told her to focus on nouns instead. She also described putting educational posters in his room, which she said he was learning from. According to Marie, the therapist dismissed the posters as “pointless right now” and again advised her to concentrate on nouns.
Marie said her son’s new speech therapist has been a positive change, adding that he is comfortable with her. She contrasted that with the previous sessions, during which her normally talkative son would sometimes remain quiet for the first 20 minutes.
Many commenters supported Marie’s decision and argued that therapy should be collaborative and focus on useful language. The Daily Dot noted that it could not independently verify the claims, which were based on Marie’s account in her TikTok video.
