According to her account, he did not reply to her message while at the theater. When they later spoke, he showed her three pictures of the movie screen. Before flying to California for her father’s funeral, she sent him a message saying she cared about him and wanted the relationship to work. She said his reply was brief. After the funeral, while at the airport preparing to fly home, she asked him directly whether they were breaking up. In response, she said, he sent a message explaining that he still loved and cared about her but did not want them to keep hurting each other and felt there were no solutions to their problems.

Some commenters speculated that he might have been cheating, but her video did not establish that this was the case.
