A 27-year-old woman has described a seven-year relationship marked, according to her account, by abuse, financial control and repeated conflict. The couple has two young children. In a post shared on the r/ToxicRelationships subreddit on Nov. 2, she said she had cheated on her 26-year-old partner and felt embarrassed by being labeled a cheater.
The woman said her partner had previously cheated on her with women on OnlyFans and had an addiction to pornography. She said that behavior stopped after about a year, leading her to believe they could move past it.
She also described her partner as neglectful after the birth of their first child. According to her account, he slept on her hospital bed shortly after she gave birth, leaving her in a chair. She said she received no support after returning home and experienced severe Postpartum depression and anxiety.
The woman alleged that her partner later got her pregnant with their second child despite her making clear that she did not want another child. She described him as passive-aggressive, controlling, jealous and consistently dismissive of her opinions. She also said he had interfered when she tried to find work, leaving her without an independent backup plan.
According to the post, her partner did not view his conduct as abusive because he had not hit her or called her names. She said he also appeared unconcerned when their children witnessed arguments, adding that their older child had become involved in disputes between the adults.
The woman acknowledged that she sometimes went out with friends, drank heavily and stayed out late. She said the children were cared for and were not present around alcohol, and that going out was her main opportunity to leave the house and have fun. She also said she had repeatedly invited her partner to join her or make plans together, but he declined.
She said she had gone out several times in recent months and cheated on her partner. She stressed that the infidelity was neither an accident caused by alcohol nor something she regretted. Instead, she wrote that it made her feel she had power over her partner and allowed her to breathe briefly.
The woman ended the post by saying she was unsure how to proceed. She said she had been a stay-at-home parent for years, had no backup plan and was afraid her partner would take the children, a threat she said he had made.
