Instagram’s feature set in 2026 puts a strong emphasis on video, artificial intelligence and profile customization. Recent additions highlighted for marketers include the Edits video-editing app, longer Reels, customizable profile grids, native reposting and the Instagram Plus subscription tier.

Edits is a standalone app for making videos, with a project timeline, teleprompter, audio and beat-alignment tools, and performance insights for exported videos. Instagram has also extended Reel length, giving creators more room for tutorials, product demonstrations and interviews. The platform’s retention metrics can help identify where viewers stop watching.

Profile grids can now be rearranged, letting accounts choose which posts appear prominently. Instagram has also introduced a repost button for public Reels and feed posts; reposts are credited to the original creator and appear in a separate profile tab. Eligible accounts can add links to posts and Reels, although availability varies by account type and region. Users can also add music to carousels and pin a 30-second track to their profile.

AI tools are now part of several Instagram creation features. Meta AI can suggest or rewrite captions, generate stickers and create or restyle Story backgrounds from prompts. It can also translate Reel audio with lip-synced dubbing, while Instagram can automatically caption video. For Reels, Trial Reels offer a way to show a video to non-followers first and review its performance before sharing it more widely. Other tools include Remix, templates, sharing Reels to Stories and linking related videos. These features support testing formats and connecting videos into a series.

Stories continue to offer tools for engagement and traffic, including links, captions, highlights, polls, quizzes and question stickers. Public Stories can be reshared, and two accounts can co-post a Story so it appears to both audiences.

Business and Creator accounts can use the Professional Dashboard and Instagram Insights to track engagement, interactions, audience growth, views and reach. Other business features include collaborative posts, which can involve up to five additional accounts, and partnership ads that promote a creator’s organic post from their handle. Instagram’s creator marketplace also lets brands find and brief creators through Meta’s tools.

Instagram’s messaging features include scheduled DMs, text formatting, chat folders, file sharing and interactive polls or quizzes in group chats. Broadcast Channels let accounts send updates to followers who choose to join. Together, the tools give marketers more ways to publish, measure performance and communicate with their audiences on the platform.
