DeepSeek has added Creator Mode to Harness, its open-source AI harness, allowing users to generate plugins from text prompts. The feature was presented with examples of a digital sticky-note wall, a poster design tool and a Minecraft-like video game.
AI models can respond to prompts and decide what to do, but carrying out actions requires a harness that connects them to tools and systems. These connections can enable tasks such as scheduling calendar appointments or making phone calls. Combined with a model, a harness can form an AI agent.
Harness is built around the idea that its capabilities come through plugins: software additions that provide new functionality without changing the original program. Creator Mode lets users describe a plugin they want and generate it from that prompt.
DeepSeek has shared prompts from its demonstration in both English and Chinese. The company cautioned that some plugins were improved over several rounds of conversation, so one prompt may not produce the same result shown in the video.
